Food & Wine-trail

Wine Trail.gif

The Sunshine Coast wine region is one of the most diverse and fastest growing wine regions in Queensland, encompassing vineyards situated high up in the cooler climate Blackall Range, Kenilworth and Traveston areas through to the milder climates in the valleys near the coast. Our wines are testament to the passion of our producers. Food brings much pleasure, and learning to get the most from it is the perfect way to destress.

Hone your Asian cooking skills in a tranquil lakeside class or at a Thai-style cooking retreat. Learn to prepare tasty raw organic vegetarian foods with the aim of achieving the same taste as cooked food. Classes are small and personalised, a chance to use local produce and learn from renowned local chefs. For full details download the pdf flyer wine trail ( Adobe Acrobat - 26.066KB )

Always fresh, often organic, it's a relaxed, local cuisine making the most of produce grown in the lush hinterland and plucked fresh from rivers and surrounding ocean.

Chefs work with a stunning array of in-season local produce from seafood, venison, duck and freshwater crayfish to goats cheese, figs, pineapples, bananas, Asian greens, asparagus, ginger and bamboo shoots.  You can browse the famous Eumundi Market or Noosa Farmers Market for the best of what's in season; taste award winning ice-cream and cheese at Maleny; buy just-picked tropical fruits from the farm gate; devour a kilo of prawns at Mooloolaba or settle down to dine in an elegant restaurant overlooking mountains, rivers or the sea.
It's the local flavours that you'll remember long after your holiday ends …. the tanginess of locally-produced wasabi cheddar washed down with a crisp glass of white or freshly picked basil so pungent and aromatic you can smell it as you wander the shady markets. Mangoes, pineapples, lychees and melons, ripened by the sun. Flavours of the sun.
Serious foodies, adventurous diners, fresh produce seekers and families who love to eat will all find their place in the sun - whether it's fabulous fish and chips by the sea at Caloundra, a long lunch beside the Noosa River or a choice steak at a heritage hotel in Gympie. At sunrise or at dusk, you'll find a variety of hip sips in bars and cafes all over the coast. Kick-start your day with a freshly-squeezed juice or relax by the water with a chilled sundowner.

Check out a bar in Caloundra where the prices of premium and boutique beers fluctuate and are set by market trends, or the funky music, friendly waiters and cool cocktails of a chilled out Hastings Street bar.
